The patent protected SupaWall® technology provides one of the most advanced closed panel timber frame systems in the world. Such a quality approach applies whether the panels are for walls (SupaWall®), floors (SupaFloor®) or roofs (SupaRoof®). As so much of the manufacture is carried out off-site within a factory, this leads to factory-based levels of quality control rather than the variability often experienced on a construction site. It is hence one of the most advanced forms of MMC (Modern Method of Construction).

The initial design of SupaWall® uses the latest advances in computer aided design (cad) so that the most efficient design is developed for manufacture. The panel are then manufactured in the proven manner of traditional timber frame with an additional sheathing ply added to give a closed panel construction. The sheathing plies are used in such a manner as to allow the patented method of joining SupaWall® panels to be achieved (Patent Number GB2436989) so that a highly repeatable quality of finished building is assured when the panel arrives for site assembly.

The technology inherent in the SupaWall System® approach is the unique way in which panels are injected with the environmentally friendly polyurethane foam insulation. Firstly the panel are contained in a high capacity hydraulic press - this is required to withstand the large forces generated during the polymerisation process as the foam is formed.

Then each of the voids in each of the panels is injected with a special mixture of proprietary chemical so that foam is produced with both excellent insulation properties and also excellent environmental credentials. Using experienced technicians combined with a purposed designed computer controlled chemical metering system, accurate chemical formulation and mixing is achieved. This provides an exact filing of every space and into every corner within the enclosed panel.

The approach seems almost magical when compared to the outdated manual cutting and filling of insulation, whether the material be some form of fibre or foam, be it on a construction site or in a factory. Not only is there not the waste and mess associated with such old fashioned techniques, but also the result gives insulation performance that simply out-classes other approaches.

You do not have to believe what we say - see the revolutionary technique with your own eyes. In order to demonstrate how every last space is filled, one of the SupaWall® Licensees, Scotframe Ltd, prepared a panel with a transparent top.

The video includes audio and visual commentary of the key points to note.

As you can see, the panel was deliberately made as a narrow void as these are the most difficult to fill. Within two minutes every last corner is completely filled with high performing foam insulation. This occurs every time a SupaWall® panel is made.Mixing-Supawall

Although there are well-proven quality control techniques in the manufacturing process using fibre optic inspection if necessary, suitable procedures are in place to ensure repeatable results - right first time, every time. All SupaWall Licensees have to comply with not one but two independent quality assurance procedures. For the UK, these are under the requirements of the Quality Plan associated with the British Board of Agrément (BBA) certificate Number 09-4659 and also those under the UK Timber Frame Association Q-Mark quality assurance scheme. SupaWall Limited will accept equivalent third party schemes in other counties.

After allowing time to cure, the panel is made into the patented SupaWall® configuration. The SupaWall System® is protected by UK Patent Numbers GB2415714 and GB243698. It is then finished to the level required by the client.

The typical minimum level is with:

  • Factory applied high quality insulation within the frame
  • Factory applied breather paper

Typical additional options include:

  • Factory applied reflective vapour control layer
  • Service zone for easier services installation on site
  • Factory applied high quality cavity insulation
  • Available with doors & windows factory fitted
  • Factory fitted services
